Convening the community

University of Washington School of Public Health is home to high-impact, world-class departments. Despite their individual accomplishments, they lacked broad-based visibility and a sense of school- wide cohesion that could accelerate their collective impact on the health of communities. Pyramid partnered with the school to develop a five-year strategic plan, engaging voices across the school and in the community.

Moving forward together

Through numerous surveys and open-door planning sessions, faculty, staff and students had multiple opportunities to inform the plan’s goals and strategies. Alumni and external partners were also consulted on opportunities and priorities that would become central to the plan. The process was owned and driven by a core group of staff and faculty who crafted the plan’s content and designed a path for greater interdisciplinary research, practice, and education, a more cohesive, supportive culture, and becoming the vanguard academic institution to help break down structures of racism and promote health equity.
