Brand Refresh and Website Development

Travois

Situation:

In 2024, we began our work with Travois, an affordable housing and economic development B-Corporation focused on serving Tribal nations. Our partnership had two phases and was oriented around a Brand Refresh of Travois identity as an organization and then based on that work, we entered into the second phase which focused on building a new website.

Strategy and Tactics:

In the first phase of our work, the Brand Refresh, we defined project goals, key audiences and stakeholders and then conducted a brand workshop to dive deep into the Travois’ brand needs. In that space, we invited key stakeholders from Travois staff and community to participate and define the visual and messaging brand needs and goals for the evolution of the brand. Building on that knowledge, the team had collective buy-in and a shared language to be able to orient around re-articulated mission, vision, values, brand messaging and an evolved visual brand. We delivered a brand platform and brand guidelines, which serve as tools for internal and external brand ambassadors to effectively communicate who Travois is, their impacts, and their goals for the future.

We immediately put the new brand to work in building a new web presence with the Travois team. We started with an audit of their current site, and worked closely with the Travois team to develop a deeper understanding of what information was most important to their audiences – and how they needed to take in that information.

Results:

Together, we created a site that clearly lays out their services and training, communicates the quality, complexity and impact of their work, and their experience working with Tribes.

The new visual design created space to showcase compelling videos and photo galleries of their developments. Ease of content maintenance was a priority for staff, so we created a suite of customized content blocks that the Travois site editors can use to quickly create new pages and projects. In addition, new project pages can easily be printed as a designed PDF, to support the specific workflow needs of Travois team and their clients.
